Montgomery County Jail Roster Overview
The official Montgomery County inmate records route is local and practical: call the jail or use the sheriff app. The sheriff's Incarcerated Detainees page says custody inquiries go to 573-564-8086. It also directs users to download the MCSO Sheriff Application, open the Jail Information tab, choose Weekly Booking Report, and select a viewable PDF option. No normal desktop search form for current inmates was located in the official material reviewed.
That distinction changes how Montgomery County inmate records should be searched. A same-day arrest may still be in intake and not yet appear in a weekly report. A person who posts bond may leave local custody before a reader finds a PDF. A person sentenced to Missouri prison moves out of the county jail route and into the state corrections locator. Federal and immigration custody use separate federal systems. The local roster path answers "is this person in the Montgomery County Jail now or recently booked here," not every custody question statewide.
Use Montgomery County Inmate Records
Start with the jail inquiry line when the question is current custody. The phone route is better than the weekly app report for very recent arrests, possible release, bond status, and holds. Have the person's full name ready. If possible, also collect date of birth, arrest date, and any booking paperwork. For bond questions, the sheriff's bonding page says the detainee name, booking number, and cash bond amount are needed.
- Call the Montgomery County Jail at 573-564-8086 and ask whether the person is in custody.
- If the arrest is recent, ask whether intake is complete and whether a booking number has been assigned.
- Use the Montgomery County Sheriff app and open Jail Information, then Weekly Booking Report.
- If the app report does not show the person, ask the jail whether release, transfer, spelling, or intake delay explains the gap.
- Search Missouri DOC, BOP, ICE, or VINELink if the person is not a local county-jail detainee.
The official jail inquiry page is the best source for the local workflow.
The page confirms that the county points users to a phone inquiry and app report instead of a public desktop inmate search box.
Montgomery County Roster Search Fields
Because the Montgomery County jail roster route is app-based and phone-based, the "fields" are the facts a caller or app user needs to locate the right booking. These fields also support records requests, property release questions, and bond payment checks. The county did not publish a desktop profile screen with sortable fields, so the table below sticks to the official route.
| Field Label | Type | Required | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Detainee name | Verbal phone information / app PDF text | Required for phone inquiry | Use full name and spelling variants when needed. |
| Detainee booking number | Jail identifier | Required for bond questions | Ask the jail if unknown. |
| Weekly Booking Report | App menu/PDF selection | Optional route | App path is Jail Information, Weekly Booking Report, viewable PDF. |
| Jail Information tab | Mobile app tab | Required for app route | App-only route in the official instructions. |
The sheriff app should be treated as an official local access channel, but not as the only channel. The jail inquiry line remains important for same-day arrests, possible spelling problems, missing weekly reports, medical intake delays, and release questions. The Google Play listing says the app includes recent arrests, public alerts, tips, community resources, breaking news, traffic alerts, and crime-prevention tools. It also warns users to call 911 for emergencies, so app tips and roster checks should not be used for urgent public-safety calls.
What Montgomery County Inmate Profiles Show
The county does not publish a full public desktop profile in the official material located, but the sheriff pages state what the jail creates. Intake is the first stage of incarceration. Each detainee is fingerprinted and photographed. The office uses LiveScan fingerprints tied directly to the Missouri Highway Patrol repository and a digital photographic system that links booking photos to jail documents. If the person cannot post bond or otherwise be released, staff complete a medical and mental-health questionnaire, then classification and housing assignment.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Detainee name | Used for jail inquiry, records request, and bond questions. |
| Booking number | Local jail identifier used for bond and booking follow-up. |
| Cash bond amount | Amount needed before Court Money payment can be completed. |
| Booking photograph | Captured at booking and tied to jail documents. |
| Fingerprints | Captured through LiveScan and sent to the state repository. |
| Intake status | Whether the person is in booking, released, bonded, housed, or held must be confirmed by jail staff. |
| Housing unit | The jail has four male units, one female unit, and one trustee unit, but public unit-level placement was not found online. |
Find Montgomery County and State Inmates
Montgomery County inmate records cover local jail custody. The Missouri Department of Corrections covers active state offenders, including people in prison, on probation, and on parole. DOC's Offender Web Search does not provide discharged-offender information and may exclude some offenders for safety, security, or confidentiality. That is a separate system from the sheriff app and jail inquiry line.
| Custody | Where to Look | Best Use |
|---|---|---|
| Pre-trial or local jail custody | Montgomery County Jail inquiry line and sheriff app | Recent arrest, bond, release, and local booking questions. |
| Sentenced state offender | Missouri DOC Offender Web Search | Prison, probation, and parole status. |
| Federal inmate | BOP Inmate Locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present. |
| Immigration detainee | ICE Online Detainee Locator System | Immigration custody after ICE transfer. |
| Custody notification | VINELink Missouri | Release and transfer notification. |
State custody also has different family-contact rules. Missouri DOC visiting, mail, phone, and money-transfer systems are statewide prison systems, not Montgomery County Jail systems. DOC says regular visiting is generally available at many institutions, but diagnostic or treatment centers can limit visiting to specific days or times. That is why a person who disappears from local jail custody after sentencing should be searched by DOC number or name rather than by the county weekly booking report.
Montgomery County Jail Facility
The Montgomery County Jail is the only local detention facility found in the official facility map. It is run by the Sheriff's Office and located in the county government and courthouse complex in Montgomery City. The sheriff page names Captain Eric Foree as Jail Administrator and Sergeant Brian Shahan as Assistant Jail Administrator. The jail books about 1,500 detainees per year and uses six housing units: four male units, one female unit, and one trustee unit.

Booking Process in Montgomery County
The Jail Division page describes intake as the first process of incarceration. Arresting officers bring people to the jail, staff begin booking, and each detainee is fingerprinted and photographed. Compliant detainees receive phone access during booking to call family or a bondsman. If the person cannot post bond or otherwise be released, staff complete the medical and mental-health questionnaire and classification workup before housing placement.
Missouri law also affects intake and release. RSMo 221.040 requires sheriffs and jailers to receive prisoners from officers or competent authority, with medical-exam rules for certain serious health conditions. RSMo 221.510 requires a local, state, or federal warrant check before release or transfer. That is why paying bond does not always mean immediate release. A warrant, probation hold, parole hold, outside-agency detainer, or transfer order can still control custody.
For past Montgomery County inmate records, the Sheriff's Administrative Division is the local public-records path because open-records requests are listed among that division's duties. A request should identify the detainee, arrest or booking date, booking number if known, and the exact record wanted. Missouri's Sunshine Law fee statute allows standard paper-copy charges and permitted clerical or research time, but the county did not publish a jail-specific booking-record fee schedule in the sources reviewed.
Montgomery County Jail Visitation Rules
The sheriff's visitation page gives separate in-person schedules for male and female detainees, plus visitor rules. Visits are limited to 30 minutes, with only two visitors per inmate. Visitors must bring valid government photo ID. The jail bans cell phones, cameras, audio or video recording devices, purses, bags, briefcases, coats, and jackets from the visitation area. Lockers are available in the visitation lobby, or visitors may return items to vehicles.
| Detainee Group | Days | Times | Limits |
|---|---|---|---|
| Male detainees | Saturday and Sunday | 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.; 1:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. | 30 minutes; two visitors |
| Female detainees | Saturday and Sunday | 5:30 p.m.-8:00 p.m. | 30 minutes; two visitors |
| Video visits | Daily system availability | 7:00 a.m.-10:45 p.m. | CIDNET/Encartele and lobby systems |
The official visitation screenshot source shows the schedule and entry rules.
The visitation screen is useful because it ties the schedule to visitor ID, banned items, search consent, and dress-code requirements.
Contact and Fund Montgomery County Inmates
Mail, video, phone, and commissary rules are separate from the custody lookup. The official mail page says to address mail to the detainee name at Montgomery County Jail, 211 E. Third Street, Montgomery City, MO 63361. A return address and sender first and last name are required. Incoming mail is opened and checked for contraband. Legal mail is opened in front of the inmate and checked for contraband. Rejected mail can be appealed in writing to the Jail Administrator.
